The Midwest Wedding Crashers: Photographer Series

The Midwest Wedding Crashers visit with Catherine from Catherine Rhodes Photography

It’s been a while since we blogged … you know giving birth and all…. so it’s our joy to start blogging again. As promised, we wanted to highlight vendors from our recent wedding crash adventures so you could see for yourself how amazing they are.   This month we are blogging about the recent photographers we had the privilege of meeting.

We kick-off our series with Catherine from Catherine Rhodes Photography.  We could not wait to share this gem with our reader audience.  She bubbles with enthusiasm for her brides and truly loves the art of photography.  We hope that you enjoy this week’s spotlight interview with one of the Midwest’s top wedding photographers, Catherine Rhodes Photography!

Catherine is originally from Jeff City, but resides in Columbia. Like many who reside in Columbia, Catherine enjoys that it has a small town feel with the diversity and excitement of a big city.  It also gives her the flexibility to travel throughout  Missouri for weddings and  portraits since Columbia is so centrally located.  She thrives being near family and occasionally enjoys a good Chief’s game with her siblings. Lucky for us, she is rooted in the midwest and promises to continue shooting in the Midwest for years to come.

Catherine has been known to be a destination photographer and there is a good reason for that. She loves to travel!  She explained that she thrives on experiencing new cultures and new foods.  “There’s nothing better than stumbling upon the best lobster bisque of your life in a little seafood shack along the East Coast.”  To add to her list of destination weddings, this year Catherine is shooting her dream destination wedding in ICELAND! She stated it is one of the most beautiful places she has ever seen and can’t imagine a more picturesque place for a wedding. We can’t wait to see the pictures and we wouldn’t mind being her second shooter if she needs one. 😉

What I love about being a creative is that everyone has their own style.  No two photographers are the same even if they tried. What makes Catherine unique is her perspective on photography.  She sees images as not just beautiful pictures that capture your big day, but as heirloom pieces that your Grandchildren will love looking at to see how it all began.  It shows how deeply invested she is with the couples and families she works with.  Her images can be defined as classic, romantic and timeless.  And in my eyes, breathtaking.

Catherine Rhodes Photography also consists of two amazing Portrait artists, Alicia and Trischa.  They are both experienced photographers who love working with people and focus on Lifestyle Portrait Sessions.  This involves capturing real moments of your family in a natural setting!

Catherine is up for an exciting 2017 calendar year.  She has several destination weddings booked and launching several other business adventures that we are excited to reveal on the blog.  The first being her mentoring sessions for fellow nouveau photographers.  These one-on-one sessions are extensive and allow new photographer to grow in their skills.  We have a creative mentor as stationery designers and highly recommend other creatives to do the same.  There is nothing like having the expertise of a fellow creative supporting you.  She is also highlighting senior portraits this year and offering headshot to local business owners.  Catherine also thrives on giving back to the community and is currently working with the Day Dreams Foundation on a current project with them. This year Catherine Rhodes Photography is adding a little bit of something for everyone!

It’s been our privilege to work with Catherine on several weddings and styled shoots. We are truly excited to see all the adventures she will share with us on lens this year.  ICELAND….HERE WE COME!
